• "A must-have"

The new version of this indispensable product doesn't introduce revolutionary changes, but it doesn't have to. As the low-end PDF reader, it simply keeps up with Acrobat Professional and Standard. This release adds the ability to play back embedded multimedia files in MP3, QuickTime, Macromedia Flash, Real, and Windows Media formats, as well as to submit Adobe PDF forms. It also replaces some of the icons in the default interface with optional, dockable toolbars. You might as well install this now before a Web site you visit prompts you to download it, because you'll need it.

  "took down our computers"

  Pros: Nothing we had problems with this update

  Cons: In our school district, we updated to 9
  on every Mac, both Tiger and Leopard systems, the first run of Reader 9.0 caused the program to crash. This led to many computers not being able to disassociate itself with 9.0 We deleted 9.0 back to 8.12

  Summary: Really don't understand why there is not more discussion of this/ but why it affected every one of our computers?
  Be wary.

  Version: Adobe Reader 9.0

  "works well for my needs"

  Pros: I like all of the offered gadgets

  Cons: Do not like that it wants to also include google toolbar with the download. Do not wish to have google tracking me with their cookies.

  "doesn't work with firefox 3."

  Pros: None. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work!

  Cons: Won't work with Firefox 3 at the moment.

  Summary: I'd like to know what alternatives to Adobe Reader 9 are recommended by CNET.

  "Big and Bulky"

  Pros: A necessary evil. You need it to see pdfs.

  Cons: It's big and is always trying to update itself. I turned off the auto update. There are other programs out there that are only a fraction of the size that will let you read pdfs.

  Summary: I finally junked this program and went with another SMALLER pdf reader.

  "Ihad trouble using it because it shows it has a virus"

  Pros: I don't want to use it all with the virus sign keeps coming up

  Cons: I don't like trying to run something and it shows it has a virus and it is in the program.
